I’m currently recruiting for a buyer/procurement manager to work for a growing civil engineering contractor in the South Wales area. The client have approached us with the urgent requirement of recruiting a buyer on a permanent basis.

 

The client:

 

Our client is a well-established civil engineering and road surfacing company, employing an experienced workforce of approximately 40 people. Working throughout South East Wales – but especially in the Cardiff area, they mainly carry out the construction of roads, car parks, retaining walls, marine works, bridges and drainage works. The Company’s client list consists predominantly of Local Authorities, other public bodies, developers, and blue chip companies. They pride themselves in attention to detail and quality, working with clients to identify cost and time-savings.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for the daily buying of materials
  • Placing orders with suppliers
  • Procuring subcontractors for live works
  • Procurement for tenders
  • Assist in preparing invoices for payment.
  • Ensuring site delivery requirements are met.
  • Negotiating and obtaining quotations from suppliers.
  • Support the Commercial Department in collating records for weekly Plant and Labour returns.
  • Ensure health and safety procedures and compliance is adhered to at all times.
  • Assist with other relevant procurement and commercial duties as required from time to time.

 

The Candidate:

  • Construction and civils experience is preferred.
  • Would consider experience in a similar industry providing they are used to a busy procurement environment
  • Competent at using MS office and Sage
  • Ideally the candidate resides locally to the area
  • Good organisational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Excellent attention to detail and inputting data.
  • Conscientious, flexible and reliable.
  • Excellent communication skills in order to deliver accurate information.
  • Effectively prioritise work load in order to meet set deadlines.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or individually.
  • Professional, approachable and helpful to ensure smooth running of the general operation.
  • Confident at dealing with people at all levels both on the telephone and in person
