An opportunity is available for an Estimator to join a social housing contractor.

The region currently comprises the following operational units:

• West Midlands New Build
• West Midlands Refurbishment
• Birmingham Construction Partnership
• East Midlands
• South West
• South Wales
• Scotland.

Working both competitively and in partnership with our key customers the candidate will be a key member of the estimating team providing a pricing service to all of the above areas. Key Accountabilities include:

• Liaison with design, planning, production and commercial functions
• Preparation of a true net build cost
• Cost planning
• Pre-contract input of contractors supply chain
• Management of RIMS database
• Value management to improve bids
• Commercial risk management
• Pre-contract / post contract lessons learned.

Currently there are two Estimators and one Assistant Estimator in the team. The role reports either to a Bid Manager or to the Bid Centre Manager, depending on who is running the bid.

Skills and Capabilities

This role requires knowledge of the following areas:

• Causeway estimating system
• New build and housing improvement pricing
• Building Regulation and legislation development
• Construction materials, methods and technology
• Health and safety and environmental legislation and issues

Candidates will be working on both new build and refurbishment projects and should be capable of dealing with both types of project.
