Description
Job Purpose
To undertake and/ or manage electrical switching, plant installation, and associated commissioning on projects carried out by the Division in a safe and cost effective manner. Meeting safety and Quality targets as laid out by the client’s and Skanska safety rules and procedures.
Principle Duties & Accountabilities
- To issue task instructions and associated plans, drawings to operatives.
- To undertake on site risk assessments and when instructed general site safety audits.
- To Issue electrical permit(s) to work, sanction for test and other documentation for HV systems.
- To compile switching schedules and approved by the engineer.
- To organise Skanska operatives ensuring their compliance with safety and quality procedures.
- To complete System Alteration Notices and issue to the customer and/or client.
- To carry out switching and earthing works in accordance with the previously approved schedule at the times agreed with the Control Engineer.
- To issue all relevant safety and quality documentation to Operatives.
- To carry out Commissioning tests and issue reports to customers/client
- To plan and programme works, including arranging shutdowns, generators, switching, linking and fusing and liaison with customer and clients.
- To participate and assist in the creation of tender documents and tender negotiation. Report on progress on individual projects to Skanksa management and the client.
- To assist in the selection and delivery of plant, equipment and materials to the clients specification
- To manage projects from start to finish.
- To compile switching schedules and seek approval by the Control Engineer prior to commencement of works.
- To carry out LV switching works in accordance with the previously approved schedule at the times agreed with Control Engineer.
- To organise Skanska operatives and to ensure their compliance with safety and quality procedures. To issue task instructions and associated drawings to operatives.
- To undertake on site risk assessments and when instructed general site safety audits.
- To complete System Alteration Notices and submit to the client/customer.
- To issue all relevant safety and quality documentation to operatives
- To carry out testing and issue reports to the client/customers.
- To produce and issue as built drawings for the client and customers.
- To carry out any other duties appropriate for this post.
Key Working Relationships
Internal – managers other Skanska Businesses and support functions.
External – Clients, suppliers, subcontractors, Statutory bodies and Organisations
Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications Required
ONC /HNC or degree in electrical engineering (Preferred).
Good Communication Skills
Full Driving Licence
Knowledge of EDFenergy networks.
Additional Information
Experience of EDF Energy networks is essential.
