£16,000 – £23,000 a year (DOE)

40+ hours per week


As a bricklayer, you will be expected to build/repair walls and chimney stacks.  You may also be required to conduct masonry on restoration projects.  This is an exceptionally practical role where you will be required to work outdoors with a team of other bricklayers.


* Measuring work areas and setting out the damp course

* Mixing mortar by hand or with a mechanical mixer

* Laying the bricks on top of each other and applying the mortar

* Trimming bricks

* Maintain high level of health and safety when using hammers, chisels and power tools

* Check that courses are straight using water or laser spirit levels and plumb lines

The Candidate

*  Solid understanding of construction and health and safety regulations

* Be competent in using cement mixing equipment and power tools

*  Excellent awareness of surroundings

*  Must be of reasonable physical fitness

*  Establish and maintain excellent working relationships and communicate well with your colleagues

*  Have excellent practical skills

*  Ability to work to deadlines and to a high standard

*  Be able to work at heights when required

* Must be able to provide a minimum of two references to demonstrate the quality of your work

Skills & Qualifications


A Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card is absolutely essential to enter the majority of sites.


City & Guilds qualifications, BTEC Level 2 certifications or Construction Skills awards.
