Pipefitter

UK

£10 – £25 per hour (Dependent on location, experience and risk on site)

40+ Hours Per Week Temporary (may even include weekend work)

Overview

A Pipefitter will lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities can vary between different projects.  It may include but is not limited to:

* Follow the specified plans from the senior members of staff

* Operating computerised equipment and machinery such as an IPAF

* Assisting site team as and when required

* The installation or repair to avoid obstructions and to avoid interfering with activities of other workers

* Using powered tools to cut pipes into desired specifications

* Thread the pipes using the pipe threading machine

* Secure pipes to walls and fixtures using brackets, clamps, tools or welding equipment

* Repair and maintain pipe systems and components

* Resolve any obstacles or obstructions to the project

* Finally making sure the successful flow of product between pipes without leaks or hazards

* In some cases you may be required to order the correct pipes and tools to be able to complete the project

About the Candidate

*  Solid understanding of pipefitting and the health and safety regulations

*  Excellent awareness of surroundings

*  Must be of reasonable physical fitness

*  Establish and maintain excellent working relationships and communicate well with your colleagues

* Be self motivated to work as part of a team or independently

*  Have excellent practical skills

*  Ability to work to deadlines and to a high standard

*  Be able to use computerised equipment

*  Be able to provide a minimum of two references from previous employers to support your work ethic

Qualifications

Essential

* In the majority of cases a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card is absolutely essential to enter a site.

Desirable

* It would be desirable but not essential to have a GCSE in Maths, English or be able to demonstrate that you are competent in Maths or English.

* Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) may be required

* City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, which specialises in Pipefitting and assembly.
