This is an excellent opportunity for an M&E Design Manager, or an experienced Building Design Manager with strong demonstrable M&E experience, to take a key role in the delivery of technically complex construction projects. Projects will typically be located across Bridgend through to Carmarthenshire, with individual project values ranging up to approximately £100m. The successful candidate will take ownership of the technical design management of all M&E systems, working closely with clients, consultants, specialist subcontractors and the wider project team to ensure designs are coordinated, compliant, buildable and delivered to the required standards. Importantly, this is a long-term career opportunity with a very established team and a contractor with a strong pipeline of work across South Wales. ## Key Responsibilities – Lead and manage the M&E design process from pre-construction through to project delivery. – Take responsibility for the technical design management of all mechanical and electrical building services. – Review, challenge and coordinate M&E designs to ensure they are technically compliant, coordinated and buildable. – Manage design development, technical submissions, approvals and design programmes. – Coordinate M&E design information with architectural, structural and other specialist disciplines. – Work closely with consultants, M&E subcontractors, suppliers and internal project teams. – Identify and resolve technical design issues and interface risks. – Ensure designs comply with relevant legislation, regulations, standards and project requirements. – Monitor design progress against programme and ensure key deliverables are achieved. – Attend and lead design coordination meetings where appropriate. – Provide technical input into procurement, construction planning and project delivery. – Support the project team in managing change, design development and technical queries. – Maintain effective communication between the design team, commercial team and site management. – Ensure appropriate design records, documentation and approvals are maintained throughout the project lifecycle. – Contribute to the successful delivery of major construction projects, potentially up to £100m in value. ## About You The ideal candidate will have a strong background in M&E design management within the construction industry. We are open to candidates from either of the following backgrounds: – An M&E Design Manager / Building Services Design Manager by trade; or – A Building Design Manager with strong and demonstrable experience managing M&E design and building services on major construction projects. You will ideally have experience working for a Tier 1 main contractor, major subcontractor, consultancy or specialist M&E contractor and understand the complexities of managing building services design within a major construction environment. You should have: – Proven experience in M&E Design Management or significant M&E design coordination experience. – Strong technical understanding of mechanical and electrical building services. – Experience managing design on medium to large-scale construction projects. – A good understanding of design coordination, technical compliance and buildability. – The ability to manage consultants and specialist subcontractors effectively. – Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. – The ability to identify technical issues and drive them through to resolution. – A proactive and collaborative approach to design management. – A relevant construction, engineering, building services or design-related qualification is desirable. ## Why Consider This Opportunity? This is not simply a short-term project requirement. The business has a very established team, strong market presence and genuine long-term career prospects for the right individual. You will have the opportunity to work on high-profile construction projects across South Wales, including schemes with values of up to approximately £100m, while developing your career within an established Tier 1 construction contractor.
