Quantity Surveyor / Estimator

Sphere Solutions are working with a successful construction company in North Devon to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join their established contracting team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business delivering a varied portfolio of commercial construction projects, typically valued between £1m and £2m, with larger schemes reaching £10m.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Preparing cost estimates and budgets for commercial construction projects.
• Supporting tender submissions and working closely with the bid team.
• Reviewing and interpreting construction drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Liaising with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Monitoring project costs, expenditure and financial performance.
• Identifying cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions.
• Negotiating contracts with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Managing valuations, payments and accounts.
• Undertaking site visits to assess progress and verify quantities.

The successful candidate will have:

• Proven experience in Quantity Surveying and Estimating within the construction industry.
• A strong understanding of commercial management, cost planning and financial control.
• Excellent numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
• Experience using 4PS Construct would be advantageous, although training will be provided.
