Contracts Manager – Groundworks

Location: Devon & Somerset
Type: Permanent
Salary: £65,000 – £75,000 DOE

We are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager with groundworks and civil engineering experience to join a long-standing regional contractor to manage their sites across Devon & Somerset.

The Role

• Overall management of designated sites to ensure and maintain on-site health and safety, ensuring compliance and standards are always met.
• Managing site teams, direct labour, and subcontractors.
• Ensuring all plant and materials are fit for purpose.
• Overseeing PPE and on-site HSE compliance.
• Ensuring both short- and long-term programmes and planning are in place to deliver sites on time.
• Liaising with internal and external Health & Safety consultants, advisors, and auditors, ensuring all duties and responsibilities are followed.
• Regular liaison with the client on progress and attending meetings when required.
• Ensuring timely delivery of sites while meeting and adhering to budgets.
• Regular liaison with both commercial and technical teams.
• Sourcing and recruiting site teams and labour, ensuring on-going training and HR matters are overseen and actioned.

Requirements

• Experience at Contracts Manager level within groundworks – both housing and commercial considered.
• Strong programming and planning ability.
• Good level of health and safety management, RAMS, and COSHH – holding a relevant SMSTS ticket.
• Commercial and financial understanding.
• Full UK Driving Licence (sites will be across the region).

Salary is dependent on experience but is in the region of £65,000 – £75,000 + company vehicle or car allowance.
