Overview
Our client is one of the UK’s leading civil engineering contractors, delivering complex infrastructure projects across energy, transport, and construction.
We are seeking a proactive Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Advisor to support both head office operations and live project sites, driving high standards of safety, compliance, and behavioural excellence.
The Role
As an HSE Advisor, you will work closely with project teams to promote safe working practices, ensure legal and corporate compliance, and support continuous improvement across the business. You will provide professional advice, carry out inspections, deliver training, and contribute to the company’s behavioural safety programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of HSE management systems.
- Carry out regular site inspections, audits, and compliance checks.
- Assist with incident investigations, reporting, and communication of lessons learned.
- Deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and wider safety training or awareness campaigns.
- Promote a strong positive safety culture, supporting the company’s behavioural safety programme BRAVE.
- Maintain accurate HSE records, data, and reports, contributing to trend analysis and improvement actions.
- Provide health & safety input for tenders, PQQs, and bid submissions.
About You
- Experience in a Health & Safety role within construction or civil engineering.
- Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation, compliance standards, and industry best practice.
- NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent) essential; IOSH membership desirable.
- Strong communication, influencing, auditing, and coaching skills.
- Proactive, organised, and able to work across multiple sites and teams.
