Health & Safety Manager

Location: Snowdonia
Salary: £75,000 – £80,000 + Car Allowance
Contract: Permanent | Leading Tier 1 Contractor

Overview

We are recruiting for an experienced Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager to join a major infrastructure project in South Wales. This is a high-profile leadership role responsible for driving a positive safety culture, supporting project leadership, and ensuring full compliance across a complex, high-risk environment.

The Role

• Provide strong, visible Health & Safety leadership across the project, ensuring best practice and full compliance.
• Support Directors, Managers, and Supervisors in understanding and fulfilling their H&S responsibilities.
• Lead site inspections, audits, and proactive safety surveillance, identifying and driving improvements.
• Oversee incident and accident investigations, ensuring corrective actions and lessons learned are implemented.
• Manage H&S reporting, data analysis, KPIs, and continuous improvement programmes.
• Review and contribute to H&S plans, RAMS, safe systems of work, and project procedures.
• Ensure contractor compliance and apply stop-work authority where safety is compromised.
• Lead project inductions, safety training, behavioural safety campaigns, and wellbeing initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in a senior H&S role on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Strong leadership capability with the confidence to influence site teams at all levels.
• Excellent knowledge of UK H&S legislation, auditing, and compliance frameworks.
• Experience working with or within Tier 1 contractors, including managing H&S advisors.
• Strong communication, investigation, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Passionate about driving positive change, developing safety culture, and promoting wellbeing.
