The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Quality Manager to join a project team delivering a large-scale, high-profile construction project in Cardiff. This is a key site-based role, working closely alongside the Project Quality Manager to ensure quality standards, systems, and compliance are met throughout the build lifecycle.
This position is ideal for a Quality Engineer, QA/QC professional, or Assistant Quality Manager looking to step up on a flagship project with real complexity and visibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Project Quality Manager in implementing and maintaining the Project Quality Plan
- Assist with quality inspections, audits, and surveillance activities across site operations
- Ensure works are delivered in line with specifications, drawings, and industry standards
- Help manage ITPs, NCRs, quality records, and handover documentation
- Work closely with site teams, subcontractors, and consultants to drive a strong right-first-time culture
- Monitor subcontractor quality performance and support corrective actions where required
- Contribute to continuous improvement of quality systems and processes on site
Requirements
- Previous experience in a quality-focused role within construction (e.g., Assistant Quality Manager, Quality Engineer, QA/QC Engineer)
- Strong understanding of construction quality systems, inspections, and compliance
- Experience working on large or complex building projects is highly desirable
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality management systems
- Confident communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across site teams
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to problem solving
