Senior Quantity Surveyor – Major Infrastructure Project – Margam, South Wales

The Opportunity

We are recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Senior QS to join a Tier 1 client team on a major infrastructure project in Margam, South Wales.

The initial phase of the project includes:

• Delivery of new overhead lines
• Installation of underground cabling
• Construction of new substations
• Upgrades to existing substations

️ What Will the Role Look Like?

• Responsibility for PCSA for the project
• Full Senior Quantity Surveying duties, including:
  • Measurement, valuation, and agreement of work sections
  • Preparation and management of interim applications for payment
  • Agreement of certifications
• Drafting, managing, and settling subcontracts
• Monthly cost management and reporting
• Drafting and preparation of claims
• Preparation and agreement of the final account
• Day-to-day management of trainee, assistant, and quantity surveyors
• Negotiation with clients, subcontractors, and consultants
• Advising on contractual implications and commercial risks
• Preparing monthly contract review reports, BPR data, management accounts
• Input into Project Business Plan as required
• Assist with establishing the “budget to build” from contract award
• Manage and implement change control processes
• Ensure contracts are executed prior to project commencement
• Clear and confident communication to professional standards
• Keep management fully advised of any issues or risks

What Are We Looking For?

• Strong NEC contract experience
• Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline:
  • Quantity Surveying
  • Commercial Management
  • Civil Engineering
  • Construction Management
• Knowledge of COINS for sub-contract and cost management
• Willingness to learn the risk and opportunity process
• Motivation to grow into the next career level
