Senior Quantity Surveyor – Major Building Project (Port Talbot)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a market-leading subcontractor on a flagship building project near Port Talbot. This is an excellent long-term opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of a high-profile scheme within the region.


The Role

  • Taking full commercial responsibility across allocated packages on a major project
  • Managing subcontract accounts, procurement, valuations, and change management
  • Ensuring accurate forecasting, cost control, and reporting
  • Working closely with project teams to support successful delivery

About You

  • A solid and consistent career history within major building projects
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to manage complex packages
  • Ideally, some experience in structures or heavy civils elements
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work collaboratively with the wider team

The Opportunity

This is an exceptional opportunity to join one of the UK’s fastest-growing contractors as an Estimator, based in South Wales. You’ll become a key member of a close-knit Preconstruction Team, helping manage tender opportunities across a diverse range of civil engineering sectors.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage tender opportunities across all civil engineering sectors.
  • Take responsibility for a tender from receipt through to submission.
  • Collaborate with the wider preconstruction and operations team to develop competitive and compliant tenders.

Key Requirements

  • Strong experience in civil engineering projects.
  • Sound knowledge of outputs and resource build-up.
  • Familiarity with temporary works and associated estimating considerations.

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience in the renewables market.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Causeway).
  • Willingness to travel to sites as needed (role based in Bridgend office).

Mobile Plant Fitter – Permanent

Location: Devon, Cornwall & Somerset
Salary: £35,000-£40,000 + Fully Expensed Company Van & Fuel Card
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

About the Role

Sphere Solutions is working with one of the region’s leading Groundworks & Civils subcontractors to recruit a Mobile Plant Fitter. You will be responsible for servicing and maintaining a large fleet of machines and plant on live construction sites across Devon, Cornwall, and Somerset.

While you can be based anywhere within these regions, occasional visits to the company workshop in Cornwall will be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on mobile plant equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues effectively.
  • Collaborate with team members to coordinate repair schedules and minimise downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and parts used.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices on-site.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to less experienced staff as needed.

Working hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
