Supporting operational teams with, inspections, training, and guidance to ensure work activities are completed in line with quality standards and contractual requirements.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Gather, analyse, and prepare data for monthly inspections
  • Manage and analyse Company events and trends by quality audits, inspection actions, and customer complaints
  • Provide training on Management Systems
  • Maintain relationships with staff and suppliers to ensure policy consistency
  • Submit weekly assurance reports to the business

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar Quality Assurance based role.
  • Excellent report writing and data analysis skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft office applications specifically Excel
  • This position does require weekly site visits therefore it is essential you hold a clean and valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
  • Excellent knowledge of local geography
  • You must be able to pass a SC Clearance to be considered for this role

Our client currently operate in a variety of sectors including waste, public realm, infrastructure, water, coastal defence and airports. They have won £60m worth of work and seem to have an incredibly busy 2024.

 

The Candidate:

  • You must have experience managing and working with design consultants and ideally have spent time working for a consultant.
  • You will be a chartered engineer or near chartered and a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers.
  • The role requires design management for both regional civils and national energy projects.

  • Experience of working for large civil engineering contractors previously

We are working with a leading specialist contracting group who work across clean and wastewater infrastructure delivering projects ranging from £500k – £30.M.

They currently operate multiple regional frameworks within this sector and have a confirmed workload until well into 2025.

Having secured several major projects within the region, they now seek a Design Manager to within the preconstruction team, responsible for coordinating the design process on a project, from tender to Client / end-user handover, ensuring that the designs produced are efficiently buildable, sustainable, delivered on time, within budget.

Ideally, you will have a proven background in design coordination/management within a civil engineering environment. However, the client is open to speaking with Senior Engineer, Site Agent & Project Manager, who can detail a strong background in design management.

Additionally, they would be happy to consider candidates ascending from a design consultancy background.

The Design Manager will be accountable for the following within each project:

  • Ensuring completeness of scope in the Design Brief and allocation of the remit to the designer(s)
  • Accountable for the day-to-day management and co-ordination of technical and engineering activities.
  • Ensure suitable design is delivered within safety, sustainability, time, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Communication of the design programme to the project team and Client as required.
  • Management of design change in line with the Site Change Control process and mitigation of any design delays where applicable.
  • Engagement in the periodic assessment of our designer’s performance.

 

Qualifications & Training

  • Membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers or equivalent relevant body desirable
  • Knowledge and experience using various BIM packages, ProjectWise, Connect Bentley, AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, etc.)

Role Requirements

  • Managing projects throughout their life cycle stages,
  • Interacting with consultants / contractors to provide guidance on technical, financial, contractual, safety, and environmental aspects.
  • Procuring contractors, negotiating contracts, and managing program, change, and risk.
  • Contract administration using JCT contracts,
  • Overseeing design data production, conducting technical reviews, and accepting deliverables are also key responsibilities.
  • Additionally, creating reports, organising and documenting meetings, supporting project governance procedures, and overseeing project cost control and communication with the Finance Department
  • Other duties include managing planning applications, writing project briefs, coordinating with stakeholders, and allocating project resources as needed.

Tekla Detailer / Draughtsperson required for an established manufacturing company based in Cardiff. The candidate will be working in a small drawing office working on a range of projects including steel bridges, stairs, lift shafts, walkways, slipways, flood defence gates, piling platforms and many more different fabrications. The candidate will ideally have experience of Network Rail standards (but not essential) and be proficient in Tekla solutions having worked in a similar role within a drawing office for a minimum 5 years. The ideal candidate will also have a basic knowledge of AutoCAD. Job Purpose:

Apply and develop knowledge and skills on projects. Make decisions as an engineer with direct support from your site agent, whilst being able to work autonomously. Level of autonomy will be dependent upon the size and complexity of the project.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand project requirements (drawings, specifications, etc) and provide setting out information to the workforce/sub-contractors in a suitable clear, concise and timely manner.

This role may take the estimating lead depending upon the size of the division and in such  instance will take responsibility for line managing the estimating team and contributing to  the development of the six point plan.

Reporting office based in Gloucester, this role will cover sites across Gloucester, this position is a permanent, full-time Monday to Friday position with a 1in6 out-of-hours rota which will include occasional weekend work
