We are assisting in recruiting a Billable / Small Works Manager for a long-standing MOD maintenance contract

To join a direct delivery team, managing a pipeline of small projects up to £25k across a large MoD site and surrounding locations.

Duties will include:

You will be responsible for overseeing the direct delivery of minor works up to £25,000, complying with all Health & Safety and Environmental standards and policies
Liaison with the direct delivery team and contractors to ensure all billable works are delivered efficiently and in a timely manner.
Working cohesively with the Built Estate Manager, you will provide weekly progress reports on billable work plans, advising on budgets, requirements, and project risks
Manage on-site health and safety, and ensure all persons on site observe compliance standards.
Identifying opportunities to reduce energy consumption on site and initiate Billable Works as appropriate by the raising of Statements of Need

Suitable candidates will possess the following:

Previous experience within facility management or built estates managing small works, including scoping of works, CDM regulations and Asbestos
An HNC/ONC or equivalent level qualification in a Building / Civil Engineering or Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or related discipline is desirable
Experience or qualifications in Asbestos Awareness and Legionella Control
IOSH and or SMSTS.
Good IT skills and previous experience working with CAFM systems such as Maximo are desirable.
You must be able to pass SC Clearance to be considered for this role.

You will join a forward-thinking team that puts delivery and safety at the forefront of their agenda, working in partnership with the client to deliver maintenance and building services across this MoD establishment.

The opportunity will offer variation and as the Project Manager you will take responsibility for delivering multiple construction projects simultaneously at any one time, ranging from building fabric to M&E upgrades through to internal repairs.

This will include – Working with the client to plan the delivery of the projects, managing subcontractors, ensuring on-site health and safety is compliant, working within CDM regulations and ensuring projects are delivered within both the programme and budget. Manage and support the client’s expectations, progress reports and delivery time scales. Strong commercial awareness and technical ability will be required.
The candidate:

HNC, or equivalent, level qualification in a Building/Civil Engineering or Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline or equivalent experience
Experience of managing construction, property maintenance programmes of work, and working in an MoD environment will be advantageous.
SMSTS and Asbestos awareness
Good supply chain management and local knowledge
Full Driving License
Excellent IT skills – MS Office and any experience of using CAFM will be an advantage.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a national contractor

Newquay
Cornwall

Managing a range of projects across Cornwall. Sectors include health, education, defence and vary in value up to £50m. You will join an experienced team and take financial charge of projects, mentoring and managing junior commercial team members.

The role:

Vet, appoint and negotiate subcontract packages for projects
Pre-contract pricing and agreement project costs, submission of cash flow forecasts
Prepare and agree CVR’S / interim valuations and agree on final accounts
Managing financial accounts and reporting to Senior Management on the project performance
Monitor progress, secure payments, if necessary, issue formal notices / contractual claims
Attend project support meetings

Requirements:

Educated to degree level in Quantity Surveying, although other equivalent qualifications may be accepted such as HNC/HND if backed up with extensive work experience.

Experience in procuring major works sub-contractor packages
Good knowledge of measurement and valuations and standard forms of contract.
Ability to negotiate with clients/sub-contractors

Experience of value engineering
Exposure to resolving disputes
Good negotiation skills and commercial awareness.
IT skills specifically of MS365 and COINS ideally, not essential.
