Sphere Solution is seeking a Project Manager to oversee a programme of refurbishment and maintenance works across Stonehouse Barracks, Plymouth. You will join a forward-thinking team that puts delivery and safety at the forefront of their agenda, working in partnership with the client to deliver maintenance and building services across this MoD establishment.

The opportunity will offer variation and as the Project Manager you will take responsibility for delivering multiple construction projects simultaneously at any one time, ranging from building fabric to M&E upgrades through to internal repairs.

This will include – Working with the client to plan the delivery of the projects, managing subcontractors, ensuring on-site health and safety is compliant, working within CDM regulations and ensuring projects are delivered within both the programme and budget. Manage and support the client’s expectations, progress reports and delivery time scales. Strong commercial awareness and technical ability will be required.
The candidate:

  • HNC, or equivalent, level qualification in a Building/Civil Engineering or Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience of managing construction, property maintenance programmes of work, and working in an MoD environment will be advantageous.
  • SMSTS and Asbestos awareness
  • Good supply chain management and local knowledge
  • Full Driving License
  • Excellent IT skills – MS Office and any experience of using CAFM will be an advantage.

As the HR and Payroll Administrator you will play a vital role in providing HR support to employees and ensuring the office runs smoothly and effectively by working closely with various departments across the company

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide HR support to employees including timesheets, holidays and IT support
  • Onboard new employees, Prepare and present induction/starter packs,
  • Maintain all company records for vehicles, IT equipment etc,
  • Prepare data for Payroll, tax codes, sick pay, agency staff
  • Check and input supplier invoices on the accounting system
  • Liaise with clients and suppliers, providing excellent customer service
  • Various other business-related tasks

Key Skills

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Proficient in using Microsoft 365 and various other systems and software including Accounting Software,
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy
  • Construction experience (desirable)
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle – due to the location of the office, public transport is not easily accessible

Projects will be varied and include all preconstruction design management, from tender stage through to completion, managing and coordinating all design information both internally and externally.

Our client, an award-winning developer is recruiting an Assistant Site Manager to help deliver a large new build residential scheme, due to continued growth, they are looking to strengthen the South West team. You will need to live within a commutable distance to Dartmouth.

The development will be fast-paced, with the usual project lead demands. You will report to an experienced Senior Site Manager and be expected to work  well under pressure, continually achieving high-quality standards, with regular liaison with subcontractors and the supply chain.

As the Assistant Site Manager, you will take responsibility for sections of the build, building to NHBC standards, assisting with site health and safety compliance, whilst deputising for the Site Manager.

Suitable candidates will have a proven track record in traditional build methods, in particular new build apartments. Strong organisational and communication skills are also required. Good local supply chain knowledge will be essential.

You will also need SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid at Work, ideally with an NVQ 4 IN Site Management.

  • Assist the Site Manager in planning and coordinating of all construction activities.
  • Monitor and enforce safety regulations and compliance with company policies.
  • Supervise and coordinate subcontractors and direct labour on site.
  • Ensure that work is progressing according to programme timelines.
  • Quality control, inspection of works and Customer Care.
  • Support / deputise for the Project Manager s and when required.

What you will need:

  • Experience at a junior / assistant level within a commercial sector, they are not looking for someone who is already at Site Management level
  • Knowledge of modern construction methods, in particular steel frame would be advantageous.
  • Ideally a trade or HNC background, with a valid SMSTS, First Aid at Work, ideally CSCS also.
  • Excellent drive and enthusiasm
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and documents.
  • Health & Safety-conscious and familiar with safety regulations on site.
  • Full driving license required.
