The Role:

Reporting to the Construction Director you be responsible for a number of residential sites across the region. You will manage an experienced build team whilst ensuring build programmes are on time and Health & Safety and Quality are adhered to.

What we’re looking for:

The ideal candidate will be a proven Contracts Manager with experience of working with a housebuilder coupled with knowledge of the NHBC both modern and traditional build methods. Excellent Management and organisational skills are a given.

Reporting to a Senior Buyer, the role will include all plant and machinery procurement along with all equipment.

The role:

  • Create, maintain and build lasting relationships with new and existing supply chain.
  • Procure plant and equipment across several projects, areas and sites.
  • Ensure orders are distributed and approved by relevant personnel.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with the accounts team to provide support on any order related queries.
  • Best value strategy, rebates and ensuring a cost-effective method is established and maintained.

Suitable candidates:

  • Experienced within engineering or construction procurement – ideally plant but not essential
  • Effective IT skills, Excel is mainly used.
  • Good local and national supply chain knowledge

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a construction professional with several years’ experience overseeing UK building construction projects, ideally in the commercial refurbishment / small new build sector. The ideal candidate must be open to and experienced in working with a team of both internal and external professionals.

Responsible for providing relevant project updates to internal departments to support business strategy and decision making, this role manages various consultants including but not limited to architects, quantity surveyors, M&E engineers, structural engineers and planning consultants throughout the project lifecycle.

Based in Plymouth, this is a fixed term contract for approximately 12 months.

Role Requirements

  • Managing projects throughout their life cycle stages,
  • Interacting with consultants / contractors to provide guidance on technical, financial, contractual, safety, and environmental aspects.
  • Procuring contractors, negotiating contracts, and managing program, change, and risk.
  • Contract administration using JCT contracts,
  • Overseeing design data production, conducting technical reviews, and accepting deliverables are also key responsibilities.
  • Additionally, creating reports, organising and documenting meetings, supporting project governance procedures, and overseeing project cost control and communication with the Finance Department
  • Other duties include managing planning applications, writing project briefs, coordinating with stakeholders, and allocating project resources as needed.

Key Requirements

  • Previous experience working on similar commercial projects with both client and contractor up to £1m
  • Project life cycle management experience – pre construction, construction and post construction.
  • JCT contract knowledge
  • SMSTS, FAW, CSCS

Suitable candidates must have groundworks and civil engineering experience, wanting to join a reputable regional contractor to manage their sites across all areas. With an expansion phase in full swing and a large client base of repeat business this is an excellent time to join.

 

You will be tasked with the overall management of designated sites, to provide and maintain on-site health and safety, ensuring compliance and standards are always met. Managing site teams, direct labour and subcontractors, ensuring all plant and materials are fit for purpose, all PPE and on site HSE are in place.

 

Ensure both short and long term programmes and planning is in place to deliver sites on time and in budget. Regular liaison with the client on progress and attending meetings when required will all be part of this role.

 

The candidate:

  • Experience at Contract Manager level within groundworks & civils is essential
  • SMSTS and a good level of health and safety management, RAMS and COSHH
  • Commercial / financial understanding
  • Full Driving License as sites will be across all of Devon

As the Accounts Assistant you will play a vital role in providing support to the accounting team, duties will include financial data, reconciliation of accounts, HRMC reporting.

  • Assist the Site Manager in planning and coordinating of all construction activities.

  • Supervise and coordinate subcontractors and direct labour on site.

  • Quality control, inspection of works, and Customer Care.

What you will need:

  • Experience in a similar role within newly built housing
