We are seeking a dedicated and detail-focused Site Quality and Compliance Manager to take ownership of site audits, compliance, and quality control across a range of developments throughout the South West. Reporting to the Production Director and working closely with Project and Contract Managers, you will act as the central point of contact for quality assurance across multiple live sites.


The Role

As Site Quality and Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of quality and legal compliance across construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular site audits to monitor, maintain, and improve quality standards
  • Review and manage audit sheets, ensuring consistency and accuracy
  • Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, NHBC standards, and Building Regulations
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date company documentation
  • Liaise regularly with clients to provide updates and maintain strong relationships
  • Support and advise site teams on compliance, quality, and best practice
  • Travel across the South West to visit live projects (travel essential)

About You

This role would suit someone from an inspection background, ideally with experience from NHBC or LABC.

Essential Experience & Skills:

  • Strong background within construction or groundworks
  • Previous experience in quality inspection, compliance, or auditing
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to travel throughout the South West region

Site Manager

Sphere Solutions are currently recruiting several Site Managers for our client, a well-established groundworks and civil engineering contractor. The company specialises in delivering major residential and commercial infrastructure schemes throughout the South West.

As their workload continues to increase across the region, they are seeking experienced Groundworks Site Managers to strengthen their well-established and growing team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage infrastructure and civil engineering works, including roads, footpaths, and S278 schemes
  • Oversee groundworks, site clearance, bulk excavation, and cut & fill operations
  • Supervise foundations, sub-structures, and ground floor installations
  • Coordinate drainage and utility services installation
  • Manage construction of retaining walls and external works such as paving and tarmac
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, on time, and to quality standards

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Groundworks Site Manager on residential and/or commercial projects – Essential
  • Strong technical knowledge of groundworks, drainage, foundations, roads, and utilities
  • Ability to manage subcontractors, plant, programmes, and site documentation
  • Excellent knowledge of health & safety, quality control, and compliance
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid at Work
  • Full UK driving licence

We are working with a well-established contractor who is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their team, specialising in groundworks projects across the South West.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional with a proven background in estimating within the construction and/or civil engineering sector.


Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing accurate cost estimates for groundworks and civil engineering projects
  • Analysing drawings, specifications, and project requirements
  • Liaising with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure competitive and accurate tenders
  • Supporting the commercial and operations teams throughout the project lifecycle
  • Identifying risks, opportunities, and value engineering options

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Estimator
    • Experience within groundworks, civil engineering, or development would be advantageous
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and industry regulations
  • Excellent IT skills, with proficiency in estimating software and MS Office / COINS
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders and work to deadlines
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall management of designated sites, ensuring compliance with health & safety regulations and maintaining on-site standards
  • Manage site teams, direct labour, and subcontractors

  • Maintain both short- and long-term programmes to deliver projects on time
  • Liaise with internal and external H&S consultants, advisors, and auditors

Quantity Surveyor

Sphere Solutions are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor, ideally from a Civils/Groundworks background, to join a very successful sub-contractor based in Exeter with a market-leading presence in Devon, Cornwall & Somerset. Our client works with a number of housing developers and contractors across the region and, with several long-standing relationships, they have an extremely busy portfolio of work.

Duties will include:

  • Produce Valuation matrices and Daywork schedules
  • Review contract documentation and drawing issues to ensure all parties hold the correct information
  • Produce a monthly application for payment to the client in line with the client’s calculation schedule
  • Verify accurate payments for sub-contractors
  • Be aware of all costs relating to all project spend
  • Responsible for cost changes as a result of new drawings
  • Liaise with the client to evaluate daywork before an order is raised
  • Ensure all works are carried out in line with detailed procedures to achieve ISO/SMAS/CHAS/Achilles certification

The successful applicant should ideally be qualified to degree level or similar and have extensive experience within the construction industry, preferably within a groundworks or civil engineering background.
