Sphere Solutions is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor, ideally from a Civils/Groundworks background, to join a very successful sub-contractor based in Redruth. With a market-leading presence across Devon, Cornwall, and Somerset, this client has longstanding relationships with housing developers and contractors, ensuring a busy portfolio of work.
We are open to considering applications from Trainee, Intermediate, and Senior candidates, and the trainee role may also be opened up to a Trainee Estimator role in Scorrier.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Quantity Surveyor, your duties will include:
- Produce Valuation Matrixes and Daywork Schedules.
- Review contract documentation and drawing issues to ensure all parties hold the correct information.
- Prepare monthly applications for payment to the client in line with the client’s calculation schedule.
- Verify accurate payments for sub-contractors.
- Be aware of all costs relating to project spend and ensure effective cost management.
- Manage cost changes due to new drawings or instructions.
- Liaise with clients to evaluate daywork before an order is raised.
- Ensure all works are carried out in line with detailed procedures to achieve ISO/SMAS/CHAS/Achilles certification.
Key Requirements:
- Degree-qualified or equivalent in Construction or related field.
- Extensive experience within the construction industry, preferably in groundworks or civil engineering.
- Strong knowledge of cost management, risk assessment, and project financials.
- Experience working with sub-contractors and clients to manage payments and budgets.
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Salary & Benefits:
- Salary: £40,000 – £65,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

What We’re Looking For:
