My client, a Groundworks & Civil Engineering contractor are in the market for an experienced Estimator to join their team based in Newton Abbot.

You will primarily be responsible for assessing and estimating the costs involved in construction projects both housing and civils.  Working closely with the wider team, you will ensure accurate and competitive estimates are provided.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct quantity take-offs and accurately estimate material, labour and equipment costs for multiple projects.
  • Participate in bid meetings, negotiations and attend all pre-let meetings.
  • Review project plans, specifications and other documentation to understand the project requirements.
  • Research and analyse the market trends, material costs and subcontractor pricing to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.
  • Maintain accurate records of a estimates, bids and project documentation.

Candidate criteria:

  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Construction estimator or similar role in the construction industry is essential.
  • Must have a strong understanding of construction methods, material market and negotiation techniques.
  • Familiarity with construction estimating software and tools.

I’m recruiting for a reputable maintenance and refurbishment contractor seeking an RLO to facilitate communication between customers, site teams, and the client on two sites in West Cornwall.

Your time will be split between the site (West Cornwall), and the office (Mid Cornwall) and there will be the requirement to travel to the Exeter office for meetings, occasionally.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Act as the first point of contact for Residents and relay effective communication to site teams and management.
  • Manage residents’ expectations, re-arrangement or postponement of works.
  • Manage customer complaints and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Delivery of customer survey process via door-to-door surveys and telephone surveys.
  • Support with community projects and activities where requested.

Suitable candidates will possess the following:

  • Minimum of 1-year experience in a similar role, preferably with a contractor.
  • Must have outstanding customer care skills including negotiation, problem-solving and listening skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Minimum GCSE English and Maths Grade C

Position Overview:

Qualifications:

I am working with a regional house builder to recruit an experienced Customer Care / Multi-Skilled Technician’

You will be delivering aftercare & defect management on new build housing developments across Devon, Cornwall & Somerset.

Reporting to the Customer Service Manager, you will carry out all maintenance and repairs to new build housing, ensuring the very best care and service is provided to new homeowners throughout their aftercare period.

Key responsibilities:

  • Taking direction from the Customer Care Manager, ensuring all appointments are attended on time.
  • Ensure the property is adequately protected before the commencement of works, including PPE and overshoes. Take relevant photographs confirming protection, before and after work and report on completion of works via email.
  • Review your diary and ensure that workload is allocated appropriately, ensuring work can be completed right the first time in the time allowed and resolved promptly.
  • As and when required carry out inspections of reported defects and issue a full report with photographs.
  • Report any repetitive defects on active and non-active sites to the Customer Care Manager to discuss with the Commercial/Technical Director
  • Ensure that Health and Safety is followed, and site regulations are adhered to.

To be successful in the role, we are looking for:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction, and housebuilding & trades e.g. Painting, Decorating, Plastering, Carpentry and Joinery
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to deal with customers in a friendly and professional manner,
  • Able to work as part of a small team with established processes and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise work and take initiative.
  • Works well under pressure/in a fast-moving environment.
  • Driving license.
