Reporting to a Senior Buyer, the role will include all plant and machinery procurement along with all equipment.

The role:

  • Create, maintain and build lasting relationships with new and existing supply chain.
  • Procure plant and equipment across several projects, areas and sites.
  • Ensure orders are distributed and approved by relevant personnel.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with the accounts team to provide support on any order related queries.
  • Best value strategy, rebates and ensuring a cost-effective method is established and maintained.

Suitable candidates:

  • Experienced within engineering or construction procurement – ideally plant but not essential
  • Effective IT skills, Excel is mainly used.
  • Good local and national supply chain knowledge

Sphere Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced site agent, to work for a reputable and regional civil engineering contractor in South Wales on a permanent basis.

Job Purpose:

  • Apply and develop knowledge and skills in delivering construction projects and leading site teams.
  • Make decisions and develop your confidence and ability as a site agent with support from your contracts manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand project requirements (tender, form of contract, deliverables, programme, drawings,
  • specifications, etc) and communicate to your site team, providing information to the workforce/sub-contractors in a suitable clear, concise and timely manner.
  • Ensure that your project is properly planned, programmed and resourced to achieve safe, profitable and timely delivery.
  • Ensure quality control requirements are met and recorded through compliance and implementation of the Integrated Management System.
  • Prepare monthly progress reports, and ensure that method statements, risk assessments and approval documents are in place for all site activities.
  • Supervise and manage your site team and activities ensuring a high standard of health, safety and environmental compliance – promote a positive safety culture.
  • Monitor and manage all foreseeable risks and opportunities associated with your project
  • Ensure adherence to legal requirements and company procedures.
  • Ensure thorough understanding and adherence to all the contractual requirements
  • Identify problems and seek the most efficient construction solutions.
  • Proactively lead the site team, providing motivation and development support.
  • Prepare in partnership with the commercial team monthly reports and forecasts
  • Ensure labour, plant, material and subcontract requirements are procured, reconciled and managed through the implementation of Evision.
  • Support the divisional team in Marketing, Business Development, Work Winning and other business requirements.

We are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager who can manage several renewable energy and civils contracts in both Devon and the wider field.

Reporting directly to the Exeter regional office you manage the timely delivery of numerous sites, overseeing site teams, health & safety, planning and budgets.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing several sites, responsible for all civils site teams and delivery.
  • Project programming, planning and delivery.
  • Ensure the site is adhering to company health and safety standards.
  • Ensure the site is running to budget with regular liaison with the procurement and commercial team.
  • Liaising with technical and financial staff, subcontractors, legal teams, and the client’s own representatives.

 Key Requirements:

  • Previous Civil Engineering knowledge and experience, with Solar Farm/Renewable Energy being a distinct advantage

With an impressive portfolio of delivering some of the UK’s most important infrastructure projects, this client is offering the opportunity to work on large civil engineering schemes, local to Plymouth This project will be complex with a lengthy programme of work over many years and working to NEC4 form of contract.

The role:
You will be expected to provide commercial expertise, which will include financial and contractual forecasting to the senior management team, ensuring cash flow is plentiful, and payments are on time. You will also take responsibility for preparing and reviewing monthly cost reports.

The person:
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will have demonstrable experience ideally within civil engineering or similar. Qualified to degree level or equivalent, with good NEC form of contract knowledge. You will be a confident user of MS Office in particular Excel and Causeway project accounting knowledge will be advantageous.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a regional contractor covering the Somerset & Devon area. With a pipeline of work and a large new build care home about to commence, we are keen to catch up with suitably qualified Quantity Surveyors who have experience in financially managing Design and Build projects Circ. £12m.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Procurement of sub-contractor packages
  • Cost planning and reporting
  • Overseeing site measurement and preparation of valuations
  • Prepare and agree on interim valuations and final accounts
  • Report to Senior Management on the project performance

Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level in Quantity Surveying, although other equivalent qualifications may be accepted such as HNC/HND if backed up with extensive work experience.
  • Good negotiation skills and commercial awareness.
  • D&B / JCT form of contract knowledge

For this role, you will need to have D&B / new build construction experience and be comfortable financially managing projects over £12m.

Due to site locations, a full driving license will be required. Travel to Devon and Bristol will be required.

Good local supply chain knowledge will be advantageous.
