We are currently seeking experienced MEP Project Managers or Building Services Managers to support the delivery of a major construction project in Devon. The successful candidate will collaborate and report to the Senior Building Services team and be responsible for the delivery and installation of the MEP systems on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide regular performance reports to the Project Director.
  • Identify and manage project risks with effective mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee the performance of MEP contractors, ensuring high standards of delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with project quality management procedures and industry best practices.
  • Implement and comply with all relevant health, safety, and environmental policies and legal requirements.

About You

  • Proven project management experience within the construction industry.
  • Background in Building Services.
  • Strong technical knowledge of MEP systems.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive project delivery.
  • Well-versed in managing commercial and contractual responsibilities.

Senior Electrical Contracts Manager – Plymouth

About the Role

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Electrical Contracts Manager to lead the electrical delivery of a flagship £48 million MEP healthcare project in Plymouth.

This is a high-profile leadership position where you will take ownership of all electrical delivery within a major MEP scheme. You’ll be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant project execution — on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the electrical elements of a complex MEP contract from planning to completion.
  • Develop and manage project programmes, coordinating with M&E teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
  • Oversee resource planning, including labour, plant, and materials.
  • Ensure all electrical installations meet BS 7671 Wiring Regulations and other compliance standards.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and quality checks to maintain the highest standards.
  • Manage budgets, costs, and forecasts while producing accurate progress reports.
  • Take a proactive approach to risk management and mitigation.
  • Act as the primary client interface, providing regular updates and building strong relationships.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate electrical engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors.

About You

  • Extensive experience in electrical engineering and project management, ideally within large-scale MEP or healthcare projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, standards, and industry regulations.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with proven success on high-value schemes.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement ability.
  • Detail-focused with a proactive approach to safety, compliance, and quality control.

Qualifications

  • 236 Part 1 & 2 Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
  • City & Guilds 2391 – Inspection & Testing.
  • JIB Gold Card (Approved Electrician status).
  • SSSTS or SMSTS – essential.
  • PMP / PRINCE2 project management accreditation – desirable.

Installation Electrician – Solar & EV Charging

Location: Covering the Devon region – reporting office in Plymouth
Salary: Up to £45,000 (DOE)
Contract: Permanent | Full-Time

Sphere Solutions are working with a well-established renewables contractor to recruit an Installation Electrician with experience in solar PV systems and EV charging installations.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing business at the forefront of renewable energy and play a key role in delivering high-quality projects across the Devon region.

The role will focus on the installation, testing, and commissioning of solar panels, inverters, battery storage, and EV chargers in commercial environments, ensuring all work meets industry standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install, test, and commission solar PV systems, EV chargers, and associated equipment.
  • Carry out AC & DC electrical wiring, including inverters, isolators, and distribution boards.
  • Install mounting systems, conduit, trunking, and cable containment.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues during and after installation.
  • Complete certification and compliance paperwork (EIC, EICR).
  • Ensure installations comply with BS 7671, Part P, OZEV, and MCS standards.
  • Deliver excellent customer service on-site, working collaboratively with project teams.

About You

  • Fully qualified electrician with at least 3 years’ commercial experience (NOT domestic).
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
  • City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395 (Testing & Inspection).
  • CSCS/ECS card holder.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Proven experience with solar PV and/or EV charging installations.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.

Desirable:

  • MCS accreditation knowledge.
  • EV charger installation training (City & Guilds 2919).
  • Battery storage experience.
  • Working at Height, Manual Handling & Asbestos Awareness training.
