Overview
We are seeking an experienced Building Services Manager to oversee all MEP packages on a major construction project based in Exeter.
This role will take full responsibility for the coordination, management, and delivery of building services packages across a large student accommodation development, including both refurbishment and new build elements. The successful candidate will manage complex MEP interfaces, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure the successful delivery of services packages from point of transfer through to practical completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure full compliance with company Health & Safety policies and procedures across all building services activities.
- Manage the full lifecycle of MEP project delivery from point of transfer through to practical completion.
- Monitor programme progress and report on performance to the senior management team.
- Maintain strict budget control across all MEP packages, ensuring commercial targets are met.
- Lead, support, and develop the project team delivering the building services scope.
- Manage the procurement and engagement of MEP subcontractors and suppliers in line with company procedures.
- Monitor subcontractor performance against programme, quality, and cost targets.
- Take responsibility for the delivery of MEP services across the entire project.
Essential Requirements
- Strong MEP / Building Services management experience within construction.
- Proven experience delivering large-scale building services packages.
- Ability to manage large project teams and complex subcontractor packages.
- Living locally to the area or willingness to relocate to Exeter for the duration of the project.
- Knowledge of BYCN systems and internal procedures.

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with an MEP background to join a major long-term development in Exeter. The project is a large-scale, multi-million-pound scheme featuring several new-build and refurbishment elements.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of the MEP packages, ensuring maximum value and cost efficiency across the project.
Working closely with the wider project team, you’ll oversee valuations, subcontractor accounts, procurement schedules, and cost reporting to achieve strong financial performance and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all commercial elements of MEP works
- Prepare and agree valuations, forecasts, and final accounts
- Control subcontractor accounts and manage variations
- Support project delivery through accurate reporting and commercial insight
- Collaborate effectively with project and estimating teams

Project Manager – MOD Contractor
Location: Plymouth
Salary: Up to £50,000 + Car Allowance / Company Car
About the Role
Join a leading MOD contractor delivering high-profile defence and infrastructure projects across Devon. This is an excellent opportunity to manage projects for a trusted national contractor with a strong reputation for excellence within the defence sector.
You will take full responsibility for project delivery — from inception through to completion — ensuring programmes are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee projects from inception to completion
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring all targets are met
- Coordinate with stakeholders, contractors, and internal teams to maintain smooth operations
- Ensure compliance with MOD security protocols, health & safety regulations, and industry standards
- Identify and mitigate risks to keep projects on track and within budget
- Drive continuous improvement and efficiencies within project management processes
Key Requirements
- HNC or equivalent qualification in Building, Civil Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
- Proven experience in a Contracts Manager or Project Manager role
- Experience managing construction and property maintenance programmes (MOD experience advantageous)
- Health & Safety qualification such as SMSTS, IOSH, or NEBOSH, plus Asbestos Awareness
- Strong supply chain management skills and good local industry knowledge
- Security clearance (or eligibility to obtain clearance) due to the nature of MOD projects
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Strong IT skills, including MS Office (experience with CAFM software desirable)

Installation Electrician – PV & EV Charging
Location: Plymouth office with work across the South West
Salary: Up to £48,000 DOE + Company Van & Fuel Card
Contract: Permanent | Full-Time
Sphere Solutions are partnering with a leading renewables contractor to recruit an Installation Electrician with experience in solar PV and EV charging installations. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business at the forefront of renewable energy.
The role involves the installation, testing, and commissioning of solar panels, inverters, battery storage systems, and EV chargers within commercial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, test, and commission solar PV systems, EV chargers, and associated equipment
- Carry out AC & DC electrical wiring (inverters, isolators, distribution boards)
- Install mounting systems, conduit, trunking, and cable containment
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues during/after installation
- Complete certification and compliance paperwork (EIC, EICR)
- Ensure compliance with BS 7671, Part P, OZEV, and MCS standards
- Provide excellent customer service and work collaboratively with project teams
About You
- Fully qualified electrician with 3–5 years of commercial experience (not domestic)
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
- City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395 (Testing & Inspection)
- CSCS/ECS card
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience with solar PV and/or EV charging installation & commissioning
- Able to interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
