Senior Electrical Contracts Manager – Plymouth
About the Role
We are seeking an accomplished Senior Electrical Contracts Manager to lead the electrical delivery of a flagship £48 million MEP healthcare project in Plymouth.
This is a high-profile leadership position where you will take ownership of all electrical delivery within a major MEP scheme. You’ll be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant project execution — on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical elements of a complex MEP contract from planning to completion.
- Develop and manage project programmes, coordinating with M&E teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Oversee resource planning, including labour, plant, and materials.
- Ensure all electrical installations meet BS 7671 Wiring Regulations and other compliance standards.
- Conduct inspections, audits, and quality checks to maintain the highest standards.
- Manage budgets, costs, and forecasts while producing accurate progress reports.
- Take a proactive approach to risk management and mitigation.
- Act as the primary client interface, providing regular updates and building strong relationships.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate electrical engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors.
About You
- Extensive experience in electrical engineering and project management, ideally within large-scale MEP or healthcare projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, standards, and industry regulations.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with proven success on high-value schemes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement ability.
- Detail-focused with a proactive approach to safety, compliance, and quality control.
Qualifications
- 236 Part 1 & 2 Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
- City & Guilds 2391 – Inspection & Testing.
- JIB Gold Card (Approved Electrician status).
- SSSTS or SMSTS – essential.
- PMP / PRINCE2 project management accreditation – desirable.
Salary & Benefits
- £70,000 – £85,000 basic salary depending on experience.

About the Role
We are recruiting for a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Contracts Manager to take a leading role in delivering the mechanical elements of a multimillion-pound flagship project in Plymouth.
This is a senior position within a Tier 1 contractor environment, where you’ll oversee mechanical packages from planning through to handover, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all mechanical aspects of a major MEP project, ensuring budgets, quality, and deadlines are met.
- Develop and manage detailed project programmes, coordinating with other disciplines and subcontractors.
- Monitor resources, labour, plant, and materials to optimise efficiency.
- Ensure full health & safety compliance across all mechanical operations.
- Conduct quality checks and audits to meet industry and client standards.
- Provide financial oversight including cost reporting, forecasting, and subcontractor management.
- Act as a key client liaison, building strong relationships and providing regular progress updates.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate project teams including engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors.
About You
- Circa 10+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering and project management, ideally on large-scale MEP projects.
- Previous healthcare project experience desirable.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC3/NEC4).
- Excellent leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management experience.
- Detail-focused, with a proven ability to deliver to the highest compliance and technical standards.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering Services (minimum).
- City & Guilds 6188 – Heating and Ventilating (Industrial & Commercial Systems).
- CSCS Card – Managerial/Professionally Qualified.
- SSSTS or SMSTS is essential.
- Additional qualifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or NEC contract training are advantageous.
