I’m currently recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work for a reputable subcontractor in Newport on a permanent contract. Our client specialise heavily in RC frame.
Duties and responsibilities will Include.
- Experience 10+years as a QS, with knowledge of Reinforced concrete Frames and Structures.
- Liaise with Pre-con, and Construction teams to build-up and review Tenders
- Evaluate and act upon tender information and develop an appropriate bid/procurement strategy with other members of the team.
- Obtaining quotes and Procurement of materials, suppliers & sub-contractors
- Competent in estimating and producing CE’s
- Prepare BQs and Take-offs
- Prepare and deliver CVR’s to Senior Management.
- Project Cost Control
- Manage Project specific financials, from reviewing contracts to Final account stage.
- Knowledge and experience working with NEC & JCT contracts
- Deal with contractual and legal matters that arise on the projects.
- Liaise with clients on a regular basis to secure future projects.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee on-site construction activities, ensuring work is carried out safely, on time, and within budget.
- Manage the reinforced concrete (RC) frame construction, ensuring structural integrity and compliance with design specifications.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to maintain workflow and resolve technical issues.
- Ensure strict health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance across the site.

Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Site Manager on large-scale RC frame projects, ideally in the data centre, commercial, or industrial sectors.
- Strong understanding of reinforced concrete construction, structural elements, and formwork systems.
- Valid SMSTS, CSCS (Black/Gold Card), and First Aid at Work certification.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and complex construction phases.
- Knowledge of temporary works, logistics planning, and site health & safety procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, project management software, and digital site reporting tools.

- Manage the setting out, surveying, and dimensional control of works using GPS, Total Stations, and laser levels.

- Proficiency in AutoCAD, GPS surveying equipment, and project management software.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
- SMSTS, CSCS (Engineer level), and First Aid certification (preferred).

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Lead to oversee all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) aspects of a £400M data centre construction project in Newport. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with UK health and safety regulations, implementing best practices, and fostering a strong safety culture across the project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement project-specific health and safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments, site inspections, and audits to ensure compliance with CDM regulations.
- Lead toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training sessions for site personnel.
- Monitor and enforce health and safety standards across all contractors and subcontractors.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, ensuring proper reporting and corrective actions.
- Work closely with project managers, site teams, and external regulatory bodies to maintain a safe working environment.
- Ensure fire safety, emergency preparedness, and environmental compliance are in place throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements:
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) in Occupational Health & Safety
- Proven experience in a Health & Safety leadership role on major construction projects
- Strong knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations, ISO 45001, and HSE best practices
- Experience in data centres, critical infrastructure, or high-tech construction is preferred
