 Duties will include:

  • Develop and maintain lasting client relationships, working openly and transparently.
  • Responsible for the growth and delivery of further billable works

Suitable candidates will possess the following:

  • Previous experience within facility management – hard services or building refurbishment works.
  • Excellent communication skills, ensuring excellent engagement with the management teams and client.
  • Experience in leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams and sub-contractors.
  • Relevant professional qualification, CIOB / MRICS / BIFM or equivalent experience through experience or qualification in the role-related subject
  • Sound knowledge of all MS Office Package
  • You must be able to pass SC Clearance to be considered for this role.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a construction professional with several years’ experience overseeing UK building construction projects, ideally in the commercial refurbishment / small new build sector. The ideal candidate must be open to and experienced in working with a team of both internal and external professionals.

Responsible for providing relevant project updates to internal departments to support business strategy and decision making, this role manages various consultants including but not limited to architects, quantity surveyors, M&E engineers, structural engineers and planning consultants throughout the project lifecycle.

Based in Plymouth, this is a fixed term contract for approximately 12 months.

Role Requirements

  • Managing projects throughout their life cycle stages,
  • Interacting with consultants / contractors to provide guidance on technical, financial, contractual, safety, and environmental aspects.
  • Procuring contractors, negotiating contracts, and managing program, change, and risk.
  • Contract administration using JCT contracts,
  • Overseeing design data production, conducting technical reviews, and accepting deliverables are also key responsibilities.
  • Additionally, creating reports, organising and documenting meetings, supporting project governance procedures, and overseeing project cost control and communication with the Finance Department
  • Other duties include managing planning applications, writing project briefs, coordinating with stakeholders, and allocating project resources as needed.

Key Requirements

  • Previous experience working on similar commercial projects with both client and contractor up to £1m
  • Project life cycle management experience – pre construction, construction and post construction.
  • JCT contract knowledge
  • SMSTS, FAW, CSCS

Site Manager

Cornwall

We are seeking a Site Manager to assist with a programme of small works across Cornwall, working with an experienced operational team, you will assist in delivering a program of capital works, ranging from small external works to redecoration or a small new build.

The successful candidate will manage site teams, sub-contractors, on-site health and safety and compliance, ensuring project delivery both on time and within budget.

What you will need:

  • Experience in a similar role, working as a Principal Contractor, managing trades and the supply chain.
  • Current in date SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid.
  • Ideally, an ONC / HNC or level 6 NVQ in a construction-related subject, experienced trade route will also be considered.
  • Longevity with previous employers and a good understanding of various forms of contract.

Billable Works Manager

We are assisting to recruit a Billable Works Manager on a long-standing MOD maintenance contract, to join a direct delivery team, managing a pipeline of small projects up to £25,000 across large MoD sites and surrounding locations.

Duties will include:

  • You will be responsible for overseeing the direct delivery of minor works up to £25,000, complying with all Health & Safety and Environmental standards and policies
  • Liaison with the direct delivery team and contractors to ensure all billable works are delivered efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Working cohesively with the Built Estate Manager, you will provide weekly progress reports on billable work plans, advising on budgets, requirements, and project risks
  • Carrying out the duties of Temporary Works Coordinator and CDM Principal Designer/Principal Contractor.
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce energy consumption on site and initiate Billable Works as appropriate by the raising of Statements of Need

Suitable candidates will possess the following:

  • Previous experience within facility management or built estates managing small works, including scoping of works, CDM regulations and Asbestos
  • An ONC or equivalent level qualification in a Building / Civil Engineering or Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or related discipline is desirable
  • Good IT skills, and previous experience working with CAFM systems such as Maximo are desirable.
  • You must be able to pass SC Clearance to be considered for this role.

Working closely with the construction team, you will take responsibility for pricing tender packages, following the process from initial receipt through to award. Suitable candidates will have sound knowledge and the ability to read drawings with specific attention to detail.

Key experience and knowledge will include:

  • Reading and reviewing internal and external designs
  • Take-offs from designs
  • Liaising with subcontractors, price enquiries
  • Producing tender packs
  • Reviewing and scoring subcontractor tender returns
  • Working with the Senior Estimator reviewing and collating tender information
  • Production of tender documentation

Key Skills:

Planner/Senior Planner

Our client is a well-established (major) building contractor that operates from a base in the Cardiff area, covering the South Wales region in its entirety. They carry out a range of building and refurbishment projects typically up to £100 million in value.

Due to the expansion of the regional office and the award of several key projects they have approached us with the requirement to recruit an experienced Construction Planner to join their team.

Involved primarily in the delivery of live projects, you will be given the chance to work on one of several new projects they have coming through including schools, commercial buildings and health-related projects.

Your role will involve carrying out a full planning function from the pre-tender stage through to the handover. This will include Producing linked tender and construction programmes from quantities, method statements, identifying Key Performance Indicators, site logistics, ompiling and contributing to submission documents.

Candidates will have a strong main contracting background as a Planner and reside within commutable distance of the Cardiff area.

Project Manager

Our client is a very large and very well-established main building contractor with a regional base in Cardiff.  They carry out a diverse range of building and refurbishment projects, and due to the award of a very large and very high-profile project, they have approached us with the requirement to recruit a Project Manager permanently to work specifically on the external works package of the scheme.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager on the scheme (which is more than £150 million), your role will be to ensure the external works package is delivered efficiently and effectively. You will manage a large team on the section including engineers and Senior Site Manager, and liaise regularly with the rest of the site team.

You will be an experienced Project Manager from a larger construction or Civil Engineering background and have experience of running major external works packages on major projects. You will also reside within commutable distance of the Cardiff area.

This is a 3-and-a-half-year project and can offer genuine long-term prospects to the right individual. On offer is the chance to work on one of the region’s highest-profile schemes playing a key part in the overall delivery of the project.
