  • Providing a strategic review of commercial model and contract

I’m currently recruiting for a Project Manager, to work for a company made up of 10 local authorities in South East Wales,

Our client are developing the old Aberthaw Power Station. The project is 6 months in with another 2 ½ years to run. With the future development opportunity on the site (data centres etc..) there could be 10 years of work in total.

The planning for this former power station based at Aberthaw in the Vale of Glamorgan represents a game-changing opportunity to reset the CCR economy and green energy needs of the entire Southeast Wales region.

Our client will lead the demolition, remediation, and future development of the site. The demolition procurement is now in the final stages and will commence this year. The new site masterplan for the redevelopment, which will commence with the remediation of the site and early reclamation of the PFA, will seek to:

  • Support the production of renewable and green energy projects;
  • Provide an accompanying battery storage facility to support the green energy projects
  • Support a net zero-carbon manufacturing cluster which will include green hydrogen production facilities;
  • Help develop a green energy innovation centre to promote innovation, growth, knowledge and community interaction with the zero-carbon future of Wales;
  • Be responsible for the development and maintenance of a bio-diverse ecology park which will include a visitor centre, providing amenities to the local community; and
  • Create the correct conditions to support industrial de-carbonisation and future giga-plant facilities.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Ideally lives locally in the area
  • Experienced in managing programmes and demonstrating the foresight to manage development sites
  • Ability to produce programmes of work
  • Energy & Renewables experience (preferred) but will look at candidates with civils, build, resi experience

Salary:

  • Salary £70-£75k + up to 20% pension contribution.
  • The role is not site-based, more hybrid – spending 1-2 days max per week down at Aberthaw.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and implementing a purchasing strategy for the project, in alignment with the Company’s business strategy.

Role Purpose:

The Senior Site Engineer’s role is managing different parts of construction projects, supervising crew members, preparing estimates for time and material costs, completing quality assurance, observing health and safety standards and ensuring these are upheld, and compiling reports for different stakeholders.

The project involves the design, construction, finance, and maintenance of the New Velindre Cancer Centre which will be situated on a greenfield site, owned by the Trust, at Whitchurch, North Cardiff. The project is being procured through the Welsh Government’s Mutual Investment Model (“MIM”) which is a specific model for procuring public-private partnerships in Wales.

This is a super opportunity for a suitably qualified practitioner to join an innovative and successful project development team. The role would suit an energetic, early career engineer committed to the highest standards of construction delivery; an engineer who is interested in the wider aspects of project development such as community benefits and who can develop lasting relationships with the Trust, stakeholders and the local community.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the ProjectCo General Manager and Project Manager
  • Work with Trust, stakeholders, local community and design team, construction team and hard FM team
  • Work with ProjectCo specialists and experts through construction
  • Oversight of the program for design, construction, and commissioning activity for the works, ensuring the quality of work and a safe site.

Role Purpose:

The role of Site Supervisor Structures & Landscape will report to the project’s Works Manager. Will be to coordinate construction operations and oversee workers within their package of work. The role holder will be responsible for the day-to-day running of their work package and for ensuring work is carried out safely in accordance with the latest drawings, specifications, and programmes.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Engage with the workforce, supply chain and other stakeholders to assist in achieving both the projects and corporate health and safety targets and objectives.
  • Follow instructions from the Works Manager and report to him.
  • Prepare and provide work permits for daily tasks that may require it.
  • Ensure that those employed on their work packages have the requisite levels of competency to undertake their roles and tasks.
  • Lead supervisory meetings and forums for their own work packages and keep their workforce and supply chain updated with current information and requirements.
  • Provide feedback from the workforce and supply chain to the project’s leadership.
  • Ensure that their work packages are conducted in accordance with the Company’s procedures and standards and that safe systems of work are produced and approved prior to starting work.
  • Manage the use of appropriate plant, tools and equipment, ensuring that it is fit for purpose and inspected, maintained and quarantined as appropriate.
  • Manage the supply chain within their work packages on a daily basis, coordinating their works and interfaces.
  • Ensure that emergency response resources are readily available and that workers understand the requirements of the emergency plans.
  • Ensure that all incidents are reported appropriately, assist with incident investigations and preserve environments, locations or evidence that may be needed for incident investigation.

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum experience of 5 years in a similar role;
  • CSCS card – Supervisor (Gold) or Manager (Black)
  • CISRS Basic Scaffold Inspection card (if inspecting Basic Scaffolding)
  • CITB Site Manager Safety Training Scheme SMSTS qualification if involved with supervising Temporary Works:
  • CITB Temporary Works Supervisor qualification
  • Relevant experience and knowledge of the nature and complexity of the work they are being appointed to supervise (e.g. earth support, scaffolding, formwork, falsework, etc).
  • if involved with supervising Lifting Operations: CPCS or NPORS Crane/Lifting Supervisor card
  • Relevant experience and knowledge of the nature and complexity of the lifting operations they are being appointed to supervise (basic, intermediate or complex lifts with tower cranes, mobile cranes or non-cranes (excavators, telehandlers, hoists, MEWPs, etc)).
  • Relevant experience and knowledge of the nature and complexity of the plant and equipment operations they are being appointed to supervise if involved with supervising plant and vehicle movements:
  • Relevant experience and knowledge of the nature and complexity of the types of works at a height they are being appointed to supervise (e.g. on or from scaffolding, hoists, towers, low-level platforms, rope access, etc).

  • Ability to assume responsibilities for decision-making on-site
  • Excellent verbal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of the relevant structures and civil engineering statutory procedures with particular reference to Health and Safety

The Logistics Manager is responsible for the coordination of the collection of waste, transportation to its due skips, ensuring the proper segregation of the waste and managing their authorized disposal out of the project. The role holder is required to develop and maintain robust relationships with suppliers, vendors, manufacturers and retailers and manage the entire order cycle to ensure project operations run smoothly and that materials and equipment are managed efficiently.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate, agree and manage contracts with suppliers, vendors, manufacturers and retailers.
  • Plan and organise shipments, and transportation out of the site.
  • Organize the labours appointed to support him in his duties.
