With an exceptional programme of works and forthcoming sites in mind, they have a need for a Health and Safety Advisor to join their South West operations and work with the SHE team advising on all health and safety matters, sites will be across South Devon and Cornwall

The successful applicant will promote and uphold a positive health & safety culture on site and provide specialist expert construction health and safety knowledge to the business. Suitable candidates will have good experience in implementing a positive health and safety culture within a construction/contracting environment.

The role will include:

• To advise and maintain safe systems of work across all sites, monitoring compliance with all legal bodies and regulatory requirements
• Produce Construction phase plans
• Assist in writing up internal Health and Safety documentation, safety policies and strategies
• Undertake risk assessments and method statements
• Work with the client to understand requirements and offer a collaborative approach on site
• Working with the site team to uphold a positive health and safety environment
• Ensure all works are carried out / set to achieve ISO/SMAS certifications

Requirements:

• Proven experience in a similar role within the construction sector
• NEBOSH general or construction
• Experience of CDM, Risk assessment, Construction Phase Plans, Fire Safety, Waste Management, Manual handling
• Full valid driving licence

I’m currently recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work for a large civils contractor on a major infrastructure project in Carlisle.

• Carlisle
• £45k – £55k plus package
• Permanent

The Job: Harker Sub Station (Carlisle, CA6 4EZ)

• £200m project in total but Civil works will amount to 15 Million
• Substation expansion project
• HV Works

Commercial Team:

• The team consists of Commercial Manager (Starting 1st September)
• 2 x SQS
• 1 x QS

The Candidate:

• Require NEC Contracts experience
• Wants someone local who can work on-site 4 days a week
• I would take someone with sub-contractor experience, procurement, and reporting
• Previous experience working on energy projects is advantageous but not essential
• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within the construction or engineering sectors.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts, tender processes, and cost control mechanisms.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Relevant degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
• Membership with a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS) is desirable but not essential

Duties

• Managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects.
• Ensuring projects are completed within the projected budget.
• Providing financial and commercial advice to the project team.
• Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities.
• Monitoring and controlling costs throughout the project lifecycle.
• Identifying, analyzing, and developing responses to commercial risks.
• Managing subcontractor procurement, payments, and final accounts.
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and quality standards.

The Package:

• £45k – £55k
• Company car or car allowance (Car grade C)
• 40 hours a week
