Sphere Solutions are currently recruiting for an operations manager to work for one of the largest Property Services contractors in the UK.

Our client are a family-owned and operated company since 1988. They have grown since then to offer a full spectrum of property services including Planned and Project works in Painting, Roofing, Flooring, Passive and Active Fire Protection, Kitchen and Bathroom Replacements, Multi-Disciplinary Fabric Upgrades, Retrofit and Energy Services, Disrepair Works and Response and Void Maintenance Contracts, delivered by expert, directly employed teams across 37 branches.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for large volumes of sales within a location
  • Meeting and exceeding forecasts for profit & WIP targets
  • Manage the day-to-day work and training of all trainees, surveyors and other employees controlled within the branch, ensuring productivity.
  • Ensure that tenders are progressed to provide an accurate basis for pricing and to allow sufficient time for the Branch Manager /Commercial team to give them proper consideration
  • Monitor the weekly and monthly cost information and ensure the accurate production of monthly valuations
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers to retain and grow existing contracts and identify opportunities that could lead to new business
  • Exercise commercial judgment to protect the company from financial or other loss
  • Maintain a site presence and ensure commercial information is a true reflection of the position on-site
  • Responsible for the continued development of Trainee Surveyors
  • Promote the values of Bell Group at all opportunities
  • Experience in leading a team of surveyors
  • Experience in overseeing commercials on large projects
  • Ideally with experience in Social Housing working for a contractor
  • A person with good organisation and communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a team
  • Will be 90% office based in Warrington but may need to carry out surveys for large-scale tenders
  • Will be managing other surveyors on their commercials and not managing any of their own

 

Qualifications:

  • Professional industry Standard or equivalent
  • CMI L5 Certificate Management & Leadership
  • Pitman Excel – Advanced Users
  • CSCS card – Manager / Professionally qualified person

 

Benefits:

  • Salary – Between £40k-£50k
  • Other – Car Allowance £4k-6k

Job Role:

  • Ensure a safe working environment for all contracts within the branch
  • Work with the Contracts Manager to establish and implement a mobilisation plan for all new projects.
  • Assist the Contracts Managers with the development of project-specific Programmes and establish a master resource programme for the branch
  • Ensure the correct resources are available to allow the contracts team to deliver their projects on time, to specification and budget
  • Monitor labour, subcontractors, plant and materials to ensure projects are delivered to ‘the Bell Standard’ and not simply the lowest standard accepted by the client.
  • Manage and motivate Contracts Managers, supervisors, foreman, site staff and subcontractors
  • Ensure customer promises are delivered and relationships are developed
  • Promote the values of Bell Group at all opportunities

 

Responsible for: Branch employees’ including Operations Supervisors, Site Foreman, Operatives and Apprentices

 

Duties:

  • Ensure all directly employed staff and subcontractors understand what it means to work for the company by discussing key values, culture and expectations regularly.
  • Ensure all supervisors and foremen have the relevant experience and ability to manage their allocated projects.
  • Ensure all supervisors and foremen are trained in aspects of health and safety relevant to their job role.
  • Ensure that supervisory staff are familiar with and have a reasonable understanding of Bell Group
  • Health and Safety policies, procedures, safe working practices and risk assessments and are effectively communicated to all site staff and contractors.
  • Review safety plans and safe systems of work and ensure implementation on all projects
  • All new projects should be allocated a management team. Ensure each project and team has a nominated Contracts Manager and supervisor/foreman/site manager to enable full-time

Qualifications:

 

  • GCSE grade C or above in 4 subjects including Maths and English or a C&G Advanced/Craft
  • certificate and NVQ L2/3, HNC in Construction, or equivalent
  • SMSTS Award
  • CMI L3 Award, Principles of Management & Leadership
  • Pitman Excel – Intermediate User
  • CSCS card – Supervisor / Manager / Professionally qualified person
  • Completion of iHASCO-defined mandatory training modules
