An established and growing construction contractor is looking to appoint either an experienced Senior Site Manager or Project Manager to join their expanding operational team based around Exeter and the wider South West region.

With a strong pipeline of secured work across Exeter, Tiverton, Bridgwater, Taunton, Barnstaple and surrounding areas, this is an excellent opportunity to join a business delivering a diverse range of industrial and commercial construction projects valued up to £10m.

The business already has a strong presence in Plymouth and is particularly keen to speak with candidates based around Exeter or Mid/North Devon who can comfortably cover projects across the region.

The Role

Depending on your experience level, responsibilities may include:

  • Managing projects from pre-construction through to completion
  • Overseeing site teams and subcontractors
  • Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme and within budget
  • Client liaison and progress reporting
  • Quality assurance and programme management
  • Coordinating multiple stakeholders across live construction environments

Requirements

  • Proven experience within main contracting construction
  • Background delivering industrial or commercial projects
  • Experience managing refurbishment and/or new build schemes
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to manage projects up to £10m in value
  • Strong background in design and build contracts
  • Valid SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid at Work certifications

An award-winning South West construction company is looking to appoint a Small Works Quantity Surveyor to join their growing Property Solutions team based in Exeter.

Their dedicated Property Solutions Division focuses on smaller-scale construction projects up to £1 million, delivering the same high standards and attention to detail as their larger contracts.

The Role

Working within the Property Solutions team, you will be responsible for supporting the commercial and pre-construction delivery of projects across the South West.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing estimates and cost plans for small works projects
  • Producing accurate quotations and tender submissions
  • Managing project costs and variations
  • Liaising with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Supporting project delivery teams commercially
  • Assisting with valuations and final accounts
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships

Requirements

  • Previous experience as an Estimator, Quantity Surveyor, or similar commercial role within construction
  • Experience working on small works projects
  • Good understanding of construction contracts and pricing
  • Strong commercial awareness and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills

Location

This role is office-based in Exeter, with projects located across the South West region.

Mobile Plant Fitter

Location: Exeter & North Devon
Salary: From £20 per hour
Contract Type: Permanent | Full-Time
Hours: 45 hours per week (Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm)


About the Role

Sphere Solutions are working with one of the region’s leading Groundworks & Civils subcontractors to recruit a Mobile Plant Fitter.

You will work closely with the workshop team to ensure the fleet of vehicles and plant equipment remains fully maintained and operational across the Exeter and North Devon region.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on mobile plant equipment
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and troubleshoot faults effectively
  • Coordinate repair schedules with the team to minimise downtime
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and parts used
  • Adhere to all health & safety regulations and best practices on-site
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior or less experienced staff

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday
  • 8:00am – 5:00pm (45-hour week)

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established and highly reputable main contractor delivering specialist cladding replacement and refurbishment projects across the South of England.

This is a fantastic role for a commercially astute QS who is either operating at Senior level or looking to step up, offering exposure to multiple live schemes and long-term career progression within a stable and growing business.


The Role

As a Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial responsibility for multiple projects, typically managing at least two schemes concurrently. Initial projects include a live site in Portsmouth, with further schemes located across Exeter, Plymouth, Newquay, and the wider South.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing all commercial aspects of cladding replacement and façade remediation projects 
  • Preparing, submitting, and agreeing interim valuations and final accounts 
  • Cost planning, forecasting, and reporting 
  • Procurement of subcontractors and supplier packages 
  • Contract administration (JCT forms of contract) 
  • Identifying and managing project risks and opportunities 
  • Building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams 

Requirements

  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor or subcontractor environment 
  • Background in cladding, façade, refurbishment, or general construction projects 
  • Strong knowledge of commercial management and cost control 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills 
  • Willingness to travel to sites and Head Office, with remote working flexibility 
  • Ambition to progress into or further develop within a Senior QS role 

Location & Flexibility

  • Based out of the Bristol office

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Building Services Manager to oversee all MEP packages on a major construction project based in Exeter.

This role will take full responsibility for the coordination, management, and delivery of building services packages across a large student accommodation development, including both refurbishment and new build elements. The successful candidate will manage complex MEP interfaces, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure the successful delivery of services packages from point of transfer through to practical completion.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with company Health & Safety policies and procedures across all building services activities.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of MEP project delivery from point of transfer through to practical completion.
  • Monitor programme progress and report on performance to the senior management team.
  • Maintain strict budget control across all MEP packages, ensuring commercial targets are met.
  • Lead, support, and develop the project team delivering the building services scope.
  • Manage the procurement and engagement of MEP subcontractors and suppliers in line with company procedures.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance against programme, quality, and cost targets.
  • Take responsibility for the delivery of MEP services across the entire project.

Essential Requirements

  • Strong MEP / Building Services management experience within construction.
  • Proven experience delivering large-scale building services packages.
  • Ability to manage large project teams and complex subcontractor packages.
  • Living locally to the area or willingness to relocate to Exeter for the duration of the project.
  • Knowledge of BYCN systems and internal procedures.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our client’s South West team in Exeter. This is a key role within the business, responsible for producing accurate, timely and competitive cost estimates that support new business wins and drive continued growth.

Reporting to the Regional Commercial Director, you will play a pivotal role in protecting the company’s commercial interests, ensuring bids are robust, competitive and carry a low-risk profile.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the estimating process for new residential and mixed-use developments
  • Produce accurate, competitive cost plans and tenders to tight deadlines
  • Manage pre-acquisition viabilities and competitive bid submissions
  • Review contractual documentation and identify commercial risks early
  • Develop risk allowances to support confident bid decisions
  • Work closely with commercial, design and operational teams
  • Support and mentor junior estimators
  • Deliver clear handovers to post-contract teams and follow company best practice

Requirements

  • Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, materials, procurement processes and the local subcontract market
  • Solid understanding of contracts and pricing
  • Experience using Housebuilder and Evaluate estimating systems (advantageous)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Advanced estimating expertise within the residential construction sector (advantageous)
