Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Dorchester

The day-to-day:

• You will work with a team of experienced surveyors
• Developing build cost budgets for new sites
• Monitoring and reporting actual costs against the budget
• Prepare subcontractor prices and carry out tender comparisons
• Assistant with general commercial administration

This role will offer progression and guidance with the view to running your own jobs as a QS. Junior-level candidates are encouraged to apply.

In a nutshell, you will be responsible for overseeing the successful execution of decarbonisation projects, developing high-performing teams and expanding the company’s market presence.

Applicants must be aware this role will require a lot of travelling, overnight stays and time spent on the road between offices & sites.

Suitable candidates will possess the following:

• CMI Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management & Leadership, or equivalent
• Higher level qualifications within construction or similar
• Experience within a similar role is essential
• Advanced proficiency in Excel (Pitman Excel Cert – advantageous)
• CSCS Managers card
• Must have a proven background of leading teams through change and complex challenges

The job, in short….

• Manage and maintain estimating documents
• Update build costs based on current sign-offs
• Work closely with the Land & Sale team to pull together land appraisals
• Site profitability matrix to ensure the business has the most efficient layouts based on cost and revenue
• Adhoc measures and pricing responsibilities

The candidate:

• Relevant qualifications and/or broad experience in Estimating
• Trainee, Assistant or Junior level candidates are encouraged to apply but must have working experience within a similar role
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of house-building
• Knowledge and experience using software and tools such as Coins and Bluebeam
• Full UK driving licence
