Location: South Devon
Type: Permanent | Full-Time
Salary: £45,000 + Car Allowance
We are seeking an experienced tradesperson with leadership skills to join a well-respected, privately-owned residential house builder. This role will focus on managing and rectifying defects across high-spec housing sites (up to £1M) throughout the South Devon region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and resolve defects on completed housing units (e.g. mastic work, door adjustments, minor carpentry).
- Produce detailed snagging reports outlining defects and actions taken.
- Liaise with sub-contractors to assign works for major defect issues.
- Maintain clear and regular communication with homeowners to keep them informed on progress.
- Provide Site Manager cover during holidays or absences when required.
Ideal Candidate:
- Strong carpentry background with the ability to spot, report and resolve quality issues.
- Comfortable interacting with sub-contractors, customers, and senior management in a professional manner.
- IT literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
- Full UK driving licence is essential.
- SMSTS certification is desirable but not essential.

Lead Health & Safety on a Major Public Sector Project in Devon
We are working with a leading UK contractor to recruit an experienced Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager for a high-profile construction project based in Devon.

About the Role
You’ll be the central point of contact for all Health, Safety & Wellbeing matters on site—leading, coordinating, and promoting a proactive safety culture across the project. This role sits within the pre-construction and delivery phase of a large, secure Government scheme and will involve supporting both internal teams and the wider supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all site-based HSW initiatives and act as the project’s health & safety lead
- Cascade key HSW communications, lessons learned, and performance reports to site teams
- Chair regular Health & Safety meetings, ensuring actions are implemented and tracked
- Conduct Site Safety Inspections and record findings using digital platforms (e.g., Novade)
- Assist in developing RAMS and specialist risk assessments with subcontractors
- Ensure the Construction Phase Plan and all CDM obligations are met
- Deliver behavioural safety briefings and training across the project team
- Onboard new employees with health and safety inductions and systems training
- Analyse trends from inspections and incident reports to drive continual improvement
- Review compliance documents from subcontractors and track performance
- Support investigations into incidents, accidents, and near misses in line with company procedures
- Provide regular reports to senior management on key safety metrics and legal compliance
- Nominate high-performing supply chain partners for safety awards and recognition
- Contribute to the development of the regional safety strategy and targets
Requirements
- Significant experience as a Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager within the construction industry
- Strong understanding of UK construction legislation, CDM, and compliance procedures
- Experience working on public sector or secure projects is advantageous
- Confident leading meetings, delivering training, and liaising with stakeholders
- Proficient in using digital safety systems such as Novade or Dalux
- NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualifications (essential)
- Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage own workload and support site teams in a fast-paced environment
