An established and fast-growing specialist construction contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its expanding commercial team based in the Bristol area.

Operating across the defence, infrastructure, energy and secure environments sectors, the business delivers high-value refurbishment, fit-out and new-build projects throughout the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute Senior QS looking to work on technically challenging projects within highly regulated environments.

The Role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take full commercial responsibility for major construction and refurbishment projects from pre-construction through to final account.

You will work closely with operational teams, subcontractors and clients to ensure projects are delivered profitably, efficiently and to the highest standards.

This role would suit a Quantity Surveyor with experience in:

• Defence construction projects
• Refurbishment and fit-out
• Main contracting
• Secure or regulated environments
• NEC and JCT contracts
• Commercial management of complex construction schemes

Key Responsibilities

• Full commercial management of construction projects
• Cost planning, forecasting and reporting
• Procurement and subcontract management
• Managing applications for payment and valuations
• Variations, change control and claims management
• Cost value reconciliations (CVRs)
• Contract administration and risk management
• Negotiation and agreement of final accounts
• Monitoring project profitability and cash flow
• Supporting operational teams on contractual matters
• Building strong relationships with clients and supply chain partners

Requirements

To be considered for this Senior Quantity Surveyor position, you should have:

• HNC / HND / Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior QS within construction
• Strong understanding of NEC and/or JCT contracts
• Experience working for a main contractor
• Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
• Ability to manage projects independently
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Good understanding of procurement and subcontract administration
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and commercial reporting systems

Desirable

• Experience within defence, infrastructure or secure projects
• Working towards or achieved RICS, CIOB or equivalent professional accreditation
